Good workouts!

So I had my first volunteering session today! It's at this children's charity shop called Merry Go Round in the south side of Glasgow. I'm their online sales volunteer which basically involves me taking pictures of their stock and posting adverts online and dealing with any potential customers. It seems like it's going to be pretty fun!
I went to the gym after finishing my volunteering. Didn't do that much, just ran 3.5K which took 20 minutes. But the past few days I've been doing these arm/abs exercises on YouTube which I'm going to share with you :)

They absolutely kill but I guess that means they're really good! I couldn't even get through the entire abs video because it was so hard but that could just be me and my pathetic core muscles (or lack of them!)

Give them a go!

So I met up with my sister in town on Saturday to exchange some boots that I got from Next a month ago which had developed a massive hole in them. Thankfully the shop assistant was really good about it and exchanged them right away even though we didn't have the receipt.

We were both starving so we decided to have lunch in town and instead of our usual wandering around, being unable to make a decision about where to go and wanting the other to decide, I knew exactly where I wanted to go. Soba. It's a cocktail bar that does amazing pan-Asian street food, and I know that my sister had never gone before.

The one we went to in town is tucked away down this alleyway off the main high street. I didn't even know it existed until a few months ago. Anyway, their menu is amazing. Everything on it sounds delicious and it takes ages to decide what you want because you will literally just want to try everything. We eventually settled on getting the Teriyaki Beef Noodles (yes, we both got the same thing) and they were as delicious as they sound. The noodles were cooked in a garlic soy sauce concoction and they had thinly sliced bits of beef with crunchy vegetables all mixed in with it... my mouth is watering just thinking about it.
It made me crave the food in Singapore and I can't wait till I'm back at Easter so I can go to the hawker centres there. But until I'm back there, the food from Soba will do nicely!

This place is really amazing and you should definitely go there to try some food that you probably wouldn't normally be eating. I highly recommend it :)

So there is this New York style cafe called Tribeca in the West End of Glasgow, that I always pass on my way to the subway. I've always wanted to go in and I finally did last week with Ashleigh. We went for lunch but they do all day breakfast so of course that was what we had. It's called the Manhattan Grand Slam and it is ridiculously big. I think I only managed to eat half of it. That alone would have sufficed but we decided to have milkshakes as well. Granted they were amazing (I had a strawberry flavoured one), but I was so ridiculously full afterwards.

I think next time I go I'll remember to not order quite so much. They had french toast on the menu which sounded delicious so I'm probably going to have that next time (and yes, I am planning my meals ahead of time).
If anyone reading this lives in Glasgow and has never been to Tribeca before, I highly recommend it :)

So I recently got back from visiting my sister in London for the weekend. I had an amazing time. It was great to get away for a while and be utterly spoilt. I got some of my favourite food, including chicken and broccoli bake and a lamb roast with all the trimmings.

Doesn't this all look delicious?

I also got to have a bath this weekend which was amazing, because I've been craving a bath for ages. This makes it sound like a don't wash... I totally do! I just don't have a bath in my flat, only a shower so it was lovely being able to lie in the tub. Got to relax in the bubbles with candles and my music and a good book. I'm reading We Need to Talk About Kevin by Lionel Shriver and it is really good. Really interesting and kind of scary. The idea that you can give birth and have no emotional attachment to your child at all and the realisation that your child is in fact just pure evil.
I also got to play and cuddle with Dexter all weekend (my sister's cat). He is absolutely gorgeous and the most disinterested cat in the world until you have food, in which case he is all over you.

My sister is getting married next summer so I got to go with her to see her wedding dress (I took a lot of pictures of her in the dress but she'd probably kill me if I put them on here) and her venue for her reception. It's being held in an all girl's boarding school and it is gorgeous. I got some really great pictures, but instead of boring you with them, I'll just a picture of the front of the building up.

All in all it was a great weekend and I'm missing my sister already!

Laura Marling

I discovered this website called 8tracks (basically like soundcloud) and have been listening to a lot of the 'chill' and 'study' playlists. I was listening to one of them today and heard New Romantic by Laura Marling. I don't think I've listened to her since I lived in Houston and I completely forgot how much I loved her music so I immediately downloaded my favourite songs of hers, and I thought I should share some of them with whoever is reading this :)

New Romantic:

Rambling Man:

My Manic and I:

You should definitely have a listen, and check out 8tracks as well because there are a lot of great playlists on there and I've been finding a lot of new songs that I love

Asian style peanut sauce pasta with salmon!

So I've been having an obsession with salmon at the moment [had scrambled eggs and smoked salmon for breakfast yesterday and had salmon for lunch today], and I had peanut butter in the cupboard to use up, so I thought it would be the perfect time to re-try one of the recipes that I've found and have tried before.

I obviously didn't have noodles at my flat (as you can see from my picture), so I had to use pasta instead. It was just as good though. Soo filling though. I couldn't finish my plate and had to have it for lunch the following day.

Anyone reading my blog should definitely try this recipe :) It's yummy
